KEEP/IMPROVE OUR BIKE LANES- WE NEED a HARBOR bike path

  • Seek out and develop bicycle routes, lanes and paths in the South Bay

  • Ensure that residential & commercial development includes all incentives possible for alternative means of transportation

  • Connect the South Bay Bicycle Paths by completing a Bicycle Path through King Harbor in Redondo Beach that is as close as possible to the water and away from the street and vehicular traffic

what we've done

      • Developed Redondo Beach Master Bike Plan

      • Planned & sought construction of major Bike-ways ie:

        • lanes on Catalina, Hermosa, Grant Ave., The Esplanade

        • North Redondo Bicycle Path at power company right-of-ways, linking the green line to Torrance

        • lanes/sharrows in Hermosa's Pier Ave construction

      • Formed Hermosa Beach Bicycle Master Plan Committee

      • Opposed paving of Hermosa's greenbelt & recommend lanes

      • Defeated an overdeveloped Heart of the City proposal in Redondo & continue to push for a bicycle-friendly harbor

      • Funding approved for bike path at the North End of King Harbor

      • Developed and approved bike path policies in Redondo's Harbor Guiding Principles

      • Helped form the South Bay Bicycle Coalition

what you can do!!

      • Get involved in city government. Contact the Redondo city council. Call the Harbor Commissioners & tell them what you think about a bike path that is accommodated in new development in King Harbor, closer to the water and not next to the street.

      • Sign up to get email updates or go to www.SaveTheStrand.info

      • Beware of fancy conceptual renditions of a harbor bike path with a park at the Hermosa border, which routes a bike path on Harbor Drive for most of King Harbor.

      • Encourage businesses that it is better for them to have a bike path in the mix of development close to business which may not mean on the street.

      • Ride along on family oriented Bicycle-riding events with SouthBayCruisers.com and discuss the issues

      • Contact Dean Francois at 310-938-2191 or SaveTheStrand@yahoo.com
